STOKES FOUNDATION builds Urban Boarding Schools through strategic partnership with existing schools in the model previously employed by ANCHOR at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. Although ANCHOR is no longer an entity building and replicating Urban Boarding Schools, we have streamlined the organizational and program models and plan to replicate these dynamic programs. We are currently working on building NYC’s next Urban Boarding School in Brooklyn, New York and have an agreement on terms with an interested school partner as we evaluate (for both cost-effectiveness and safe occupancy) a viable former Convent owned by the Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, that can serve over 24 students and accommodate residential staff. THis evaluation is being conducted by Acheson-Doyle Partners architectural firm and should conclude Summer 2016. Acheson-Doyle Partners are the same architects that provided guidance on the $3M renovation project that was required at Bishop Loughlin. We expect that the new program can be launched at a fraction of that cost. The outcomes of our evaluation and the capital budget generated will set the stage for our first major capital campaign and a two-year program launch plan.
